Runelite HD is a mod (made by one player and 117) that uses Old School RuneScape and gives it an HD transformation OSRS Gold. As far back as 2018 Jagex had issued legal threats against mods like this accusing them of copyright infringement. However, it appears that those threats have gone away when Jagex provided their approval to one of the first Runelite.

Although it may sound reasonable initially, there's a huge problem. Runelite HD doesn't actually seem to be breaking any of Jagex's mod guidelines, and the company claims that new guidelines that spell out the fact Runelite HD does actually break its guidelines are being released this week.

Mod creator 117 states that they tried to bargain with Jagex by offering to remove their mod once Jagex was finished and released their own effort However, "they declined outright," possibly indicating the end for a project that had consumed "approximately around 2000 hours over the course of two years."
